Abstract : The total Bitcoin hashrate share of Bitmain’s two mining pools was about 26% in January, while it once reached more than 42% in the first half of 2018.
February 5 (ChainDD) In the latest January, the total Bitcoin hashrate share of Bitmain’s two mining pools—BTC.com and Antpool was about 26%, the lowest in 16 months, and has declined since it reached the peak in 2018, according to The Block’s report.
The report said that the two mining pools’ Bitcoin hashrate once accounted for more than 42% in the first half of 2018. And Bitmain also led the Series A funding round of ViaBTC, the fifth largest pool. Though Bitmain didn’t disclose how many hasrate it controlled through ViaBTC, the investment still raised concerns about its potential threat of 51% attack.
