The 2019 Fintech&Regtech summit is being held by the Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the Nikkei in Tokyo, Japan from September 3rd to 6th. A Japan-based analyst with ChainDD interviewed Ryozo Himino, the vice minister for international affairs of the FSA, about his viewpoints on FSA program—Fintech Innovation Hub, and the types of programs focused on by regulators.

Ryozo Himino told ChainDD that the FSA is openminded and treats all start-up companies equally despite their backgrounds. FSA welcomes Chinese start-ups and their counterparts in other countries to apply for the experimental programs actively. However, no application has been made by foreign companies. Therefore, he hopes all foreign companies shall cooperate proactively with Japan.

Meanwhile, Himino stated that the FSA has always maintained friendly relationships with the Chinese government and enterprises, and he shows tremendous appreciation to the innovative atmosphere in China with examples of Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai where rapid changes can be experienced.
