The World's Largest Futures Exchange CME Officially Launches Bitcoin Options Trading

CMC, the world's largest futures exchange, announced on January 13th that bitcoin options trading will start from 15:00 UTC on Monday. This is in response to the growing interest in cryptocurrencies from the outside world and the customer demand for tools to manage Bitcoin risk.

On September 20, 2018, CME announced the plan to launch bitcoin option contracts in the first quarter of this year. According to CME introduction, the contract unit is 5 BTC, and minimum price fluctuation 25 US dollars, trading hours from 17:00 on Sunday to 16:00 on Friday.
Binance-backed derivative platform FTX also announced the launch of Bitcoin options contracts last Sunday. Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX said that although FTX's bitcoin options has not been opened to US traders, two hours before the transaction was launched, the volume has exceeded 1 million US dollars.
Data from analysis agency Skew shows that up to last Friday, the daily trading volume of Bitcoin options last week has break over $90 million, and about 95% of transactions were trading on the Dutch exchange Deribit. Deribit said last Thursday that it had moved its operations to Panama due to regulatory concerns.
